Interior steel stairs with timber

Interior stairs are a daily-use detail and a structure at the same time. This realization shows the NICOS character clearly: steel should stay technical, but proportions, light and finish must remain domestic.

Challenge

Introduce a steel element into the interior without losing the warmth of timber or creating a visually heavy railing.

Solution

Slim steel beams and horizontal railings were paired with timber treads and a warm wooden ceiling.

Result

The stairs become a central interior element without dominating the light and materials of the home.
